The Situation – It Is What It Is

52

He can’t afford you.

Whether he’s simply broker than broke or he knows that you require high-maintenance, if a man feels that he won’t be able to support you financially he won’t make any effort to tie the knot. Before getting married I’ve met women that after two dates would begin to show signs of their gold digger ways. Now, why would a man stay with you for so long knowing that you “demand” a certain lifestyle? Well, maybe he enjoys your company, or the intimacy is phenomenal. Whatever the reason, many guys can tolerate a high-maintenance woman in a dating-type relationship just fine, but the thought of marrying her leaves much to be desired.

53

He can get the milk without buying the cow.

I know that this is one of those points that should be common sense for all women, but it still bears repeating for the less informed. If you’re having sex regularly with a guy and you’re trying to get him to take things to the next level, you’re playing a losing game. There are some exceptions to the rule of course, but by the law of averages, when a man is enjoying the fruits (regular, monogamous sex) of a marriage without actually having to be married, he’s going to keep milking the cow for all it’s worth until some outside force or motivation convinces him otherwise.

54

He honestly believes that he can do better than you.

This one is pretty straightforward. It’s tough to swallow but it’ll save you a lot of heartbreak later on if you realize that this is the case. If a man believes that he can find a better woman than you, he’s simply going to hold on to you as long as he can until his little miss perfect comes along. The good thing about this is that you won’t end up with some shmuck that takes you for granted. The bad thing about this situation is that he’s probably going to stay with you just long enough until something better rolls around. You’d be wise to do him a big favor and help him along his way.

55

He likes you…but he’s not head-over-heels in love with you.

Sometimes out of sheer laziness or complacency, a man can and will endure a relationship simply because it provides him with some sort of convenience. If a man likes you enough, he can enjoy a relationship with you up to a certain point. When the time comes for something a bit more serious like marriage however, he won’t be able to take the next step simply because he’s not head-over-heels in love with you. If he’s not in love with you enough to get married then you’re better off waiting for someone who can give you what you feel you deserve.

56

He doesn’t like or trust his potential future in-laws.

Depending on his relationship with your family, your boyfriend may think twice about getting married. His hesitation might stem from the fact that he thinks your parents are too controlling and might try to make decisions for you both.
